I was honored to speak with artist Lora Whelan of the Eastport Gallery in my mother’s town for their first Literary Evening of the summer season. I had hoped to be there in person, but it was great to reconnect virtually for a chat about creativity in times of duress and solititude. I read three pieces, including an excerpt from a piece by the wonderful Tre Johnson that was published in The Grio.
If you just want to dip in for a couple minutes, you can check out an essay about new motherhood (around 4:00), some comments sent in by Daily Boost and Eastport community members about their creative efforts (from 11:13), the amazing “Life in Washington County” project (around 19:20), some of Tre’s piece (22:10), or a poem called “Will There Be More?” (34:30).
Thanks, Lora, for this great conversation!
